Colin Davis - Director Tel: 02476 572567 Mobile: 07775 534349 e-mail: colin@health-tech.org.uk Colin is a chartered engineer with over 30 years experience of working in industry with high technology based companies in a range of sectors including automotive, aerospace and medical and healthcare technologies. His role at WMG over the past 10 years has enabled him to work with over 1500 technology based SME’s in the West Midlands. The SME’s have been across a range of sectors and issues such as strategic, business management and development processes have been addressed. As Director of Health Tech, Colin is responsible for leading the strategic development of the project and the role it has within the West Midlands programme of support for SME’s through the Regional Development Agencies agenda for growth and diversification into medical and healthcare technologies. He was instrumental in founding the original base for the project including the ERDF support content, the matching contributory activities from complementary public and private partners and the focus of the service offering for SME’s. He currently supports a highly competent team and project manager in the ongoing evolution of the project’s delivery.
Daniel Steenstra – Project Manager
Daniel provides advice and support on Business Strategy & Innovation. Daniel has a higher degree in Medicine and worked as a house officer in several Dutch hospitals. After graduating, he pursued a career in design and innovation in the car industry. At the University of Warwick, he was responsible for postgraduate strategic design programmes. He still lectures on IPR at Warwick. In 2002, Daniel was appointed Guest Professor at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi’an – China. He setup InterAlign to commercialise InterQB-It®, his invention for a new organisational management methodology, for which he has patents granted in Europe, USA and China. As management consultant, he developed and implemented business strategies and innovation processes for client organisations such as Alstom and Unilever.
In HealthTech, Daniel uses his unique experience to support individuals and companies in all aspects of developing healthcare products, technologies and processes.
Brian Bowen – Manufacturing & Operations Advisor
Brian provides advice and support on Business Operations & Manufacturing. Brian is a chartered engineer who has 40 years of engineering experience working in automotive, FMCG and healthcare sectors. This includes 11 years as Manufacturing Director for a healthcare company, being actively involved in new product development. He has also recent experience of working in the public sector for Advantage West Midlands and Medilink West Midlands.
In HealthTech Brian supports clients by providing advice in the areas of manufacturing, new product development and business activities.
Alan Connington – Sales & Marketing Advisor
Alan provides advice and support on Sales & Marketing. Alan has over 20 years experience of working within the NHS and its related industries. After qualifying as a nurse in 1982, Alan progressed up through the ranks and in 1994 became a Senior Health Service Manager responsible for the operational management of all disciplines of staff within South West Hertfordshire. In 2001, Alan left the Health Service to become the Clinical Support Manager for a worldwide manufacturer and provider of safety medical devices. He was responsible for the provision of all aspects of product training, product evaluation and customer support. Having experience of both working in the NHS at all levels and working for healthcare industries, Alan is ideally placed to appreciate the complexities of the healthcare sector and the market in which it operates.
As HealthTech’s Marketing Advisor, Alan is responsible for providing support to companies in the area of selling in to the NHS. He has extensive experience of developing and closing commercial arrangements with global healthcare companies.
James Love – Quality & Certification Advisor
James provides advice and support on Quality & Regulatory Affairs. James is a mechanical engineer with experience in the sectors of automotive, industrial equipment, chemical, domestic appliances and medical devices, where he was Vice President Engineering for a high volume manufacturer. He has been involved with design and quality management most of his professional career. Currently, he is on the steering committee of the Medical Technologies Special Interest Group, co-sponsored by the Chartered Quality Institute, in the UK, and the American Society for Quality - Biomedical Division.
In HealthTech, James supports client companies by providing expert advice on IPR, regulatory issues and quality management systems.
